S-Scripture:  Psalm 6:7, “My vision is blurred by grief; my eyes are worn out because of all my enemies.”  (NLT)

Psalm 6:7, “My eye wastes away because of grief; It grows old because of all my enemies.”  (NKJV)

O-Observation:  David was experiencing some serious grief in Psalm 6.  His troubles had caused him to hit his knees in prayer to God for mercy and relief.  In verse 6, his tears had drenched his bed.  He had sobbed so much that his vision became blurred.  Because of David’s sincere desire to please the Lord, the Lord heard his prayers and his enemies would be disgraced.

A-Application:  When I read this verse, God used this verse to speak to me in a different light than what it was intended.  I believe the purpose of this passage was to show that God is a God who cares for His people, and that God would disgrace those who would not follow Him!  When I allow the troubles and stresses of life to weigh heavy upon me, then, my vision for the work God has given me will become blurred.  It is important that we stay focused on the goal, and when troubles come, we must seek the face of God!  We must be willing to look ahead at what we will be, not what we were.  Looking back is a bad position to be in, but looking straight ahead is what God wants us to do.  We must have a clear, compelling, vision if we want people to understand the seriousness of God’s Kingdom work!

P-Prayer:  Dear Heavenly Father, my vision is a little blurry.  I feel tossed to and fro because of the stresses of life.  Help me to rest in you.  Help me to guard the vision, know the vision, and be willing to cast the vision to a people who are hungry for You!  In Jesus Name.  Amen!
