S-Scriptures:  Exodus 23:5, “If you see the donkey of someone who hates you struggling beneath a heavy load, do not walk by.  Instead, stop and offer help.”  (NLT)

Proverbs 25:21-22, “If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; And if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; For so you will heap coals of fire on his head and the LORD will reward you.”  (NKJV)

Romans 12:20, “Therefore if your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.”  (NKJV)

O-Observation:  Moses is giving instructions, laws, and ordinances to Israel.  These laws were to regulate Israel.  It was to be a school-master for them to follow.  The law was given to teach Israel how sinful they were compared to the Righteous, Holy, God!  This command to “stop and offer help” to our enemies is one that pierces deep down in the centerpiece of our hearts.

A-Application:  Being helpful, loving, and kind to our enemies can only be done through the aid of the Holy Spirit God living in us.  The natural thing for us to do is fight back, poke fun, or wish misfortune to those who do not like or love us!  This is sometimes hard to apply, but if we are going to be like Jesus, we must do good to those who have done us wrong, and we must pray for the happiness of our enemies.

P-Prayer:  Father, it is not natural for us to forgive.  It is not natural for us to do good to our enemies, but I realize that this command can only be done through the help of Your Spirit.  Lord, please help me to not tense up, clam up, or blow up when my enemies do me wrong.  Help me to love them, and pray for them.  By doing this, we will heap coals of fire on their heads, and YOU WILL REWARD US.  Thank You, Lord!  In Jesus name.  Amen.
