S-Scripture:  Leviticus 24:16, “And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, [and] all the congregation shall certainly stone him:  as well as the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name [of the LORD] shall be put to death.”  (KJV)

O-Observation:  This seems a little harsh, don’t you think?  Starting in verse 10 of Leviticus 24, God tells us of an Israelitish woman’s son who went out among the children of Israel and blasphemed the name [of the LORD], and cursed.  One thing I observe from this chapter is the severity of our sin.  Even what might seem small in our eyes is huge in the mind of God!

A-Application:  Tonight, I met a young man who thought he was a pretty decent guy, that is, until I took him to the Ten Commandments.  The Law was given to expose sin, it was given to tear “our image” down, and humble us before the Mighty hand of God!  When Jesus was speaking in the New Testament, He said that our righteousness must exceed the righteousness of the Scribes and Pharisees.  My friends, the only righteousness we have is found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.  If you have never accepted Christ as your Savior, it is my prayer that God would use this entry to convict you of sin, then,  you repent of your sins toward God, and place your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  If you’ll do this, God will save you!

P-Prayer:  Dear God, Help me to preach Your Word, so that you can expose sin, and humble the sinner to repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.
